About us

Our Brief History

By the special grace of God, I became born again in 1980 while in school of Health Technology Aba, Abia State. In 1982, the Christian Union made me their president. After my graduation from the school I was posted back to my Local Government as a Civil Servant, I started Deeper Life Bible Church in Arondizuogu where I was posted since there was none there in 1983.

In 1985, I left the church to further my education in the university of Ile-Ife. While on the campus, I held two positions under Deeper Life Campus Fellowship. They were maintenance co-ordinator and campus pastor. After my graduation, I resigned from civil service and went for full time ministry. On coming back I indicated my interest to serve the Lord on full time, which led to my promotion to District Pastor and posted to Afikpo under Deeper Life Bible Church. After some years I was made a region overseer. Few years after the new position, the Lord started dealing with me concerning this ministry (Old Time Faith Ministries).

Since I had no person to share the vision than my wife, as I feared that if I did to another person it would land us into discipline. After sharing the vision with her, we had a problem. This centered on what people would say if they heard. As a result of fear of man, it was abandoned. The Lord did not abandon it, but we were stubborn, but the Lord through his own way made us willing to obey.

Now, not wanting to care of what people will say or feel, I sent my resignation letter to Lagos and state capital. The Lord warned me not to take anybody from the church nor destroy my labour in the land and I should go with my wife alone and He will give us souls. By the grace of God, we obeyed and informed the church. As soon as the news was heard, the whole church busted into weeping. At the end I had to appear before the General superintendent with two other state Overseers who begged me to stay. But I decide to obey God rather than man.

On the 18th February, 1998, I packed my books and few of my clothes and left from Ebonyi State to Rivers State to start a fresh work. On getting to Port Harcourt, I started squatting with my brother while my wife was at Afikpo running her private nursery and primary school. Adaptation to new environment lasted till the end of the year. Old Time Faith Ministries was given birth to in March 1999 at Niger Grammar School at Igboukwu street, D\Line Port Harcourt with my wife, our two daughters and I.

It was one of the roughest periods in our lives. People who were on top before to start from nowhere. We endured it. We printed ten thousand (10,000) handbills at the end on the day only one woman attended the meeting. It seemed that the whole world would scatter. After some months at Niger grammar school, we changed venue to Orogbum Primary School which looked centralized all at D/Line. After some weeks my Wife and children went back to Afikpo to continue to run her Nursery and Primary School. When the money she borrowed from the school account (Rhema International School), People’s Bank Afikpo which she gave to me had finished coupled with the difficulties of running two homes, I told her to sell the School and join me fully. Though it was difficult but she had to sell the school and  use the money to support the work promising her that God will give it to her back when we settle down.

The Church had a serious setback coming from powers from my fathers house, witchcraft attack from one of the members and refusal to allow worldliness in the church. But at the end The Lord delivered us.

Mission

The Holy Spirit is giving a charge to us to make sure that the vision of the ministry as stipulated above and the tenets of faith are preserved, preached and practiced. No matter the generation, civilization, the truth of God’s word must not be tampered with. I want to bring it to the notice of all and sundry that this is a deliverance ministry given to me by the Lord and must not be turned into another thing. Furthermore, with what the ministry suffered at her early years under a witch, the Lord mandated me not to allow any witch to blossom in his house. “Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live (Exodus 22:18)” “and the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul and will cut him off from among his people” (Leviticus 20:6). Beloved, witchcraft, occultism, joining secret cults (Exodus 20:1-8) are all abominations before the Lord. No leader or member who practices any of these should be allowed in the church. Through sound teaching and preaching against such, they will manifest. As soon as they are discovered, they will be given the opportunity to repent and to renounce such. If they refuse to repent or if after their repentance is discovered to be false, they must be expelled from the church. (1 Corinthians 5:5, 1 Timothy 1:20) Finally, holiness of life, prayerfulness and preparation for the Lord’s coming must characterize every leader and member. May the Lord depend on You in Jesus name. Amen Pastor Walter O. Zach Founder

*** WHAT WE BELIEVE ***

Holy Bible

We believe that the Holy Bible, consisting of 39 books of the Old Testament and 27 books of the New Testament is the inspired work of God. We take the Bible as final authority in all matters concerning Christian conduct and work. (2 Timothy 3:16, Proverbs 30:5-6, Revelation 22:18 – 19)

Deliverance

We believe in deliverance and called to set the captives free. Furthermore, we accept the existence of evil spirits (Matthew 12:45, Mark 1:26, 5:9, 7:30, Luke 4:18, 16:9, Luke 10:9, Acts 8:7, 19:13, Ephesians 6:12, 1 Timothy 4:1, James 2:19, Revelation 16:14). Also we believe in the authority that the Lord delegated to the church to cast our demons (Matthew 8:32, Mark 16:17, Luke 4:18, 10:19, Mark 5:1-5).

The God head

We believe that the Godhead consists of three separate distinct and recognizable persons with personalities and equalities, perfectly united in one. The Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost are different persons in the Godhead, not merely three names for one person (Matthew 3:16-17, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Matthew 28: 19 – 20).

Witchcraft and Occultism

We believe that witchcraft, occultism are all abomination in the sight of the Lord and no member, irrespective of the position should be allowed to practice it (Deuteronomy 4:23-28, Deuteronomy 13:1-18, Exodus 22:18, Deuteronomy 18:10, 1 Samuel 15:23, Galatians 5:20)

Virgin Birth of Jesus Christ

We believe the virgin birth of Jesus, the only begotten Son of God. The crucifixion, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:18-25, Romans 1:4, 1 Corinthians 15:3,4)

Total Depravity

We believe the total depravity, sinfulness and guilt of all men since the fall, rendering them subject to God’s wrath and condemnation (Psalm 51:5, Job 14:4, Romans 3:23, 5:12-17, Mark 7:21-23, Ephesians 2:1)

Repentance

We believe that repentance is a complete turning away from all sins and its deceitful pleasures and that it is required from every sinner before he can truly and effectively believe in Jesus with saving faith (Proverbs 28:13, Isaiah 55:7, Ezekiel 18:21-23, Mark 17:15, Luke 24:26, 47, Acts 2:38, 3:19, 20:20, 2 Corinthians 7:10, Hebrews 6:1-3).

Restitutuion

We believe that Restitution is making amend for wrong done against our fellowmen, restoring stolen things to their rightful owners, paying debts, giving back where one has defrauded, making confessions to the offended and apologizing to those slandered, so as to have a conscious void of offence towards God and man. (Genesis 20:1-6, 14-18, Exodus 22:1-7, Leviticus 6:1-7, Numbers 5:6-8, 2 Samuel 12:1-6, Proverbs 6:31, Ezekiel 33:14-16, Matthew 5:23, 24, Luke 19:8-9, Acts 23:1-5, 24:16, James 4:17, 5:6

Justification

We believe that justification (or regeneration) is that act of God’s grace whereby one receives forgiveness and remission of sins and is counted righteous before God through faith in the atoning blood of Jesus, sanding before God as though he had never sinned. (Psalm 32:1,2, Isaiah 1:18, Micah 7:19, John 3:3-8, Acts 13:38-39, Romans 3:24 – 30, 4:6-16, 5:1-2, 2 Corinthians 5:17-21, Galatians 2:16, Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5, 1 Peter 1:23

Water Baptism

We believe that water Baptism is essential to our obedience after reconciliation with God. Water baptism is one immersion (not three) “in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost” as Jesus commanded. (Matthew 28:19, 3:13-17, Mark 16:15-16, Acts 2:38, 8:38-39, 19:1-6, Romans 6:4-5)

The Lord’s Supper

We believe that the Lord’s Supper was instituted by Jesus Christ, so that all believers (all members of the family of God) might partake thereof regularly to “show the Lord’s death till he comes”. The emblems used are “unleavened bread” and the juice of ‘fruit of the vine”. Anyone who eats and drinks unworthily brings “damnation”, punishment and chastisement upon himself. (Matthew 26:29, Luke 22:17-20, 1 Corinthians 11:23-30)

Sanctification

We believe that entire sanctification is a definite act of God’s grace, subsequent to the new birth, by which believer’s heart is purified and made holy. It cannot be attained progressively by works, struggle or suppression but it is obtained by faith in the sanctifying blood of Jesus Christ. Holiness of life and purity are central to Christian living. (Luke 1:74-75, John 17:15-17, 1 Thessalonians 4:3,7-8, 5:22-24, Ephesians 5:25-27, Hebrews 2:11, 10:10-14, 13:11,12, Titus 2:11-14, 1 John 1:7, Hebrews 12:14, 1 Peter 1:14-16)

Baptism of The Holy Ghost

We believe that the baptism of the Holy Ghost is an endowment of power from on high upon the sanctified believer. It is ‘the promise of the father”, and when one receives this “gift of the Holy Ghost”, it is accomplished by the initial evidence of speaking a language unlearned previously, referred to as speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. (Matthew 3:11, Acts 1:8, Luke 3:16, 24:49, John 1:30-33, 7:37-39, 14:16, 17, 26, 24:49, 15:26, 16:12 – 15, Acts 1:5-8, Mark 16:17, Acts 2:1-18, 10:44-46, Acts 19:1-6). We do not teach or instruct people on how to speak in tongues; the Holy Spirit gives utterance. We also stress the necessity of purity before power. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are for us today. (1 Corinthians 12:1-31, 14:1-40).

Monogamy Marriage

We believe that marriage is binding for life. Monogamy is the uniform teaching of the Bible. Polygamy is contrary to God’s perfect will and institution. Also under the New testament dispensation, no one has a right to divorce and remarry while the first companion lives. When a person becomes converted, necessary restitution, on this line, must be done without delay if he has married wrongly. (genesis 2:24, Deuteronomy 7:1-4, Job 23:11-13, 2 Corinthians 6:14-18, Proverbs 31:10-31, Malachi 2:14-15, Romans 7:2-3, Ephesians 5:3-33, Matthew 5:1-31, 19:3-9, Mark 10:2-12, Luke 16:18, John 4:15-19, Genesis 20:3-7)

Redemption

We believe that redemption from the curse of the law, healing of sickness and disease as well as continued health is provided for all people through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ. (Exodus 15:26, Deuteronomy 7:15, Psalm 103:1-5, Proverbs 4:20-22, Isaiah 53:4-5, Matthew 8:16-17, 1 Peter 2:24, Mark 16:15-18, Luke 13:16, John 14:12-14, 10:10, Acts 10:38, James 5:14-16, John 3:8, 3 John 2, Galatians 3:13-14). We also believe in medical practice but NEVER anything fetish

Personal Evangelism

We believe that personal Evangelism is a God-ordained ministry for every believer. Jesus commands and God required every believer to be a compassionate and fruitful soul winner, bringing others to Christ (Matthew 28:19-30, Daniel 12:3, Ezekiel 3:17-21

Second Coming of Jesus Christ

We believe that the second coming of Christ will be just a literal and visible as his going away, and his coming to execute Judgement upon the ungodly. He will also, then set up His kingdom and reigns on this present earth for a thousand years (Zechariah 14:3-4, Matthew 25:31-46, Mark 13:24-37, 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10, 2:8, Jude 14-15

Christ’s Millennial Reign

We believe that Christ’s millennial reign is the 1,000 year literal of Jesus on earth, which will be ushered in by the coming of Jesus back to earth with ten thousand of his saints. At this time He will judge the nations that dwell upon the face of the earth, (Jude 14:15, 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10). During this time the devil will be bound (Revelation 20:2, 3:6-9, 6:25, Hosea 2:18, Zechariah 14:9-20, Isaiah 2:2-4)
